Frequently asked questions
Scripts
Can I use an eScript?
Yes. Show us the QR code on your phone, or forward the SMS or email to info@byfordpharmacy.com.au and we'll have it ready. If you have an Active Script List, we can dispense straight from it with your consent.
Can you keep my scripts on file?
Yes. We can keep your paper repeats and eScript tokens safely on file, so you just call or drop in when you need more. We can also set up an Active Script List for you, which stores all your eScripts in one place.
How much will my prescription cost?
Most prescriptions are subsidised under the PBS, and the government sets the maximum price. Concession card holders pay less than general patients, and some brands cost a little extra. Ask us about a cheaper brand if one is available.
What is the PBS Safety Net?
If you and your family spend a certain amount on PBS medicines in a calendar year, your scripts become cheaper or free for the rest of that year. We can keep a record of your family's scripts and let you know when you reach it.
Services
Do I need an appointment to see a pharmacist?
No, walk in anytime during opening hours. For vaccinations and longer consultations, you can book a time online to avoid waiting.
What can a pharmacist treat without a GP visit?
Our pharmacists can give advice on common health problems, treat uncomplicated urinary tract infections in women, and give a range of vaccines. The services pharmacists can offer in WA are expanding, so ask us what's available.
Which vaccines can I get, and are any free?
We offer flu, whooping cough, shingles, COVID-19 and more, with no prescription needed. Many vaccines are free if you're eligible under the National Immunisation Program or WA Health programs. See our Vaccinations page for details.
What should I bring to my vaccination, and how long does it take?
Bring your Medicare card, ID and a list of any medicines you take. Allow about 20 to 30 minutes, including a 15-minute wait afterwards so we can make sure you're feeling well.
Do you do Webster-paks?
Yes. We pack your medicines into easy-to-use weekly packs sorted by day and time. Talk to us in store or give us a call to get started.
Do you deliver?
Yes, we deliver locally. Free weekly delivery is available, conditions apply. Call us to arrange.
Everyday
Can I return old or unwanted medicines?
Yes, you can bring in expired or unwanted medicines anytime and we'll dispose of them safely for free. We also take used needles and sharps for free disposal, as long as they're in a closed sharps container. We sell sharps containers in store.
Do you provide leave certificates?
Yes, our pharmacists can provide certificates for a short absence from work or study, after a quick private chat. The fee is $29. We can't backdate certificates.
How do rewards and online shopping work?
Join My Pharmacy Rewards for free at the counter and earn points on non-prescription purchases. You can also shop online through IPA. Just select Byford Pharmacy as your store.
What are your hours, and where can I go after hours?
Our current hours are at the bottom of every page. When we're closed, call healthdirect on 1800 022 222 for free health advice 24/7. In an emergency, call 000.
